Rest assured, we approach every stay with care, inten­tion, and a deep respect for the mem­o­ries you’re about to cre­ate. Your hap­pi­ness isn’t just impor­tant to us — it’s the rea­son we do what we do.

Per­son­al­ly, years ago, we found the mea­sure for a good hol­i­day was nev­er hav­ing to get into the car dur­ing the stay. Nev­er hav­ing to dri­ve the chil­dren to the beach or the shops. Nev­er hav­ing to dri­ve the teenagers to some­where they could hang out (and then hav­ing to find col­lect them ​‘some time’ lat­er). Nev­er hav­ing to dri­ve every­one to a restau­rant and not even have a glass of wine with din­ner. Nev­er hav­ing to dri­ve to get a loaf of bread or pint of milk. Nev­er hav­ing to stress about find­ing park­ing and how to pay for that park­ing. Every­thing you need is on your doorstep. And a local rail and bus ser­vice exists to Rams­gate, Broad­stairs etc

Wal­pole House is a large, light-filled coastal home in Mar­gate, designed for groups who want to spend time togeth­er prop­er­ly — whether that’s a fam­i­ly gath­er­ing, a week­end with friends, or some­thing worth celebrating.

There’s a nat­ur­al flow to the space that just works. Big social areas for meals, drinks and long con­ver­sa­tions, bal­anced with enough room to spread out when you need a bit of qui­et. Even with a full house, it feels relaxed rather than busy.

With eight bed­rooms across the main house and a self-con­tained annexe, the lay­out gives you flex­i­bil­i­ty. Cou­ples, sin­gles, and fam­i­lies can all find a set­up that suits them, with­out it feel­ing like anyone’s com­pro­mis­ing. Some can be right in the heart of things, while oth­ers have a bit more sep­a­ra­tion — ide­al for dif­fer­ent rou­tines, ear­ly nights or slow­er mornings.

The house is set up for real group liv­ing. A large din­ing space where every­one can sit togeth­er, two ful­ly equipped kitchens that can han­dle any­thing from a sim­ple break­fast to a full group meal, and mul­ti­ple liv­ing areas so every­thing doesn’t hap­pen in one place.

Out­side, there’s two pri­vate, secure gar­dens and a gen­er­ous patio; per­fect for a slow morn­ing cof­fee, an after­noon in the sun, or a relaxed evening with food and drinks. It’s an easy exten­sion of the house, espe­cial­ly after a day at the beach.

And the loca­tion keeps every­thing sim­ple. Eclec­tic North­down Road is on the doorstep. The sandy shore, rock pools and lido are just a short, step free walk away, so you can come and go as you please. Head one way for qui­eter coastal walks and open space, or the oth­er for Mar­gate Old Town — cafés, restau­rants, gal­leries and a bit more ener­gy when you want it.

What makes it work so well is the bal­ance. It feels socia­ble with­out being over­whelm­ing, spa­cious with­out being dis­con­nect­ed, and flex­i­ble enough to suit dif­fer­ent groups with­out need­ing to over­think it.

Whether you’re plan­ning some­thing spe­cial or just get­ting every­one togeth­er, it’s the kind of place that makes the whole stay feel easy and gen­uine­ly enjoy­able from start to fin­ish. The place to bring every­one togeth­er and cre­ate won­der­ful memories.

If you’re plan­ning a week­end of good food, laugh­ter, time togeth­er, get­ting ready in style, explor­ing Mar­gate and enjoy­ing a fab­u­lous night out, Wal­pole House is a won­der­ful choice. How­ev­er, Wal­pole House is not a par­ty house.
We’re locat­ed in a qui­et res­i­den­tial con­ser­va­tion area which means fam­i­lies, chil­dren and babies are our neigh­bours. This means that loud music, shout­ing, singing and late-night cel­e­bra­tions inside the house can be heard next door, just as noise out­side can.
We ask all guests to be par­tic­u­lar­ly respect­ful after 10pm. If you’re return­ing from a night out, please arrive qui­et­ly, keep voic­es low and remem­ber that the par­ty needs to end when you get home. If your plan is to con­tin­ue the par­ty back at the house into the ear­ly hours, Wal­pole House isn’t the right venue. It won’t be enjoy­able for our neigh­bours, and it won’t work for you either.
