The Old Winery plus the Flint Barn is a spacious detached barn conversion and adjacent cottage sleeping 26+ that is perfect for large house parties, family get togethers, birthday parties and anniversaries. There are thirteen ensuite bedrooms, four permanent 6 ‘ doubles and nine can be 3′ twins or 6’ doubles. The oak dining table seats 20 with ease and can be extended to seat up to 34 when the other cottages are booked in conjunction with the Old Winery. Near the South West Coast Path and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the property sits in a private valley at the centre of East Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with our own 52 acres to explore, including woods, orchards, fields and streams.

The large 34’x 55′ kitchen/dining room is perfect for house parties with the second kitchen making it ideal for catering on a large scale, and professional caterers are available too. There is a heated pool in season and a games room. We have many fabulous restaurants nearby, including River Cottage, Pig at Combe, Michael Caine’s Lympstone Manor, Hix’s Oyster and Fish Restaurant and many great local pubs. Higher Wiscombe have been winners of many awards including best Holiday Cottages in the South West, Winner of the National Self Catering Holiday of the Year, Best Dog-Friendly Business and numerous environmental awards, including a Gold Green Tourism Business Scheme award. Special Features
All bedrooms can be doubles. Four in The Old Winery have to be doubles, all other bedrooms in both The Old Winery and the Flint Barn can be 6’ doubles or twins, all are ensuite. Dining table can seat from 20 – 34. Two bathrooms in The Old Winery have baths and showers, one bathroom in Flint has a bath and shower, all bathrooms have showers.
Indoors
The Old Winery has four large double bedrooms with six foot wide beds, all en suite and six further ensuite bedrooms that can be 3’ twins or 6’ doubles. The addition of the Flint Barn to the booking adds three more ensuite bedrooms, all can be twin or 6’ doubles. The large sitting room has French doors that open above the terrace and offer a wonderful aspect of Southleigh valley. It also has a wood burner with plenty of logs (all from our own woods) along with squashy sofas to relax into. The television has freeview, a DVD and there is a CD/iPod players. There are two fully functioning kitchens within the Old Winery that facilitate catering on a grand scale. Each is equipped with 100 cm range cookers, a large fridge, a microwave and dishwasher as well as having six slot Dualit toaster and food processors and champagne buckets. It has separate laundry rooms with washing machines and tumble dryers. When booking the additional Flint Barn, use of a private cinema room is also included.
Outdoors
The Old Winery has a large private terrace, which is not overlooked, with a wonderful view of the unspoilt valley below. Ample hardwood furniture is provided to sit outside in the warmer months and a large Weber barbeque is available (gas provided). Visitors are free to roam the 52-acre grounds, which include woodlands, orchards, pasture and streams with abundant wildlife. We also have a 500-year-old Oak tree that is designated one of the Great Trees of East Devon on our land that forms part of a County Wildlife Site. When booking the Flint Barn as well dedicated parking spaces increase to 13 cars and more parking is available nearby. There is a heated swimming pool that guests can book for exclusive sessions and an indoor games room with full size table tennis and a table football table. EV charging available.

The property is perfectly situated for the Jurassic Coast, with it’s beaches at Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth, sailing at Exmouth and Lyme Regis and collecting fossils at Charmouth. Supermarket deliveries can be ordered from Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsburys. Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are all within a ten minute drive. Fabulous local restaurants including the two best gastro pubs in the South West within five miles, plus Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstalls River Cottage And Hix’s Oyster and Fish within fifteen miles. The East Devon Way can be accessed on foot. The South West Coast Path just a short distance away. It is an excellent base to explore the West Country. Near to numerous National Trust properties, RSPB reserves, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Pecorama and The Heritage Coast Walk. Guests receive a comprehensive information pack on local attractions, take-aways, places of interest and where to buy the best in local and organic food.
