Pick­well Manor is a spec­tac­u­lar coastal escape for fam­i­lies, friends, and mul­ti-gen­er­a­tional cel­e­bra­tions. Nes­tled in six acres of flour­ish­ing grounds just a 25-minute walk from Puts­bor­ough Beach, this Grade II-list­ed manor blends his­to­ry, mem­o­rable charm, and con­tem­po­rary comfort.

The manor sleeps 27 across its 12 bed­rooms, with flex­i­ble apart­ment lay­outs to accom­mo­date groups of 17 – 27. Each apart­ment is styl­ish, with soft Far­row & Ball shades, lux­u­ri­ous lines, well-equipped kitchens, and cosy liv­ing rooms look­ing out across sea and coun­try views. A games room and a six-per­son pri­vate hot tub offer fun and relax­ation for all ages.

The three largest apart­ments, all in the main manor house, sleep 7 – 10 peo­ple in 3 or 4 sump­tu­ous bed­rooms. With soar­ing ceil­ings, ele­gant peri­od details, and mul­lioned win­dows, four bed­rooms even fea­ture free­stand­ing baths for a lit­tle extra indul­gence. Filled with light and dec­o­rat­ed in soft, coastal-inspired tones, each apart­ment has breath­tak­ing views over the gar­dens and out to the Atlantic, offer­ing a warm, wel­com­ing retreat after a day explor­ing the coast.

Also in the manor is the glo­ri­ous Ball­room and Snug. Expan­sive and invit­ing, these spaces let you live, eat, cook, and cel­e­brate togeth­er, while still offer­ing plen­ty of nooks to retreat to for qui­et moments.

Out­side, adven­tures await: sand­cas­tles and surf­ing at Puts­bor­ough, Croyde or Woola­combe, coastal walks, cycling the Tar­ka Trail, or sim­ply wan­der­ing the manor’s gar­dens and wood­lands. Pick­well Manor is a place to con­nect, relax, and make unfor­get­table memories.

  • In addi­tion you may want to hire The chapel (the orig­i­nal 16th cen­tu­ry Chapel to the house now a gor­geous stand alone apart­ment 10 meters from the main entrance) sleeps 2 in dou­ble bed (sor­ry no chil­dren or babies due to steep stairs), wet room with a show­er. Pri­vate court­yard with 2 per­son hot tub.
  • You may also choose to hire the Ball­room and Snug, a won­der­ful com­mu­nal kitchen, lounge and din­ing area with log fire, where you can cook, eat and socialise togeth­er in gor­geous grand surroundings.

The apart­ments all have kitchen facil­i­ties and lounges. 

Out­doors

Pick­well Manor is set in 6 acres of gar­dens and grounds. 

To the front of the south-fac­ing house, a sun ter­race leads down to the Ital­ian Gar­den, sur­round­ed by many mature shrubs, flow­ers, and rose arch­es. This gar­den also offers some stun­ning views over the coast and coun­try­side, with the Atlantic Ocean to the west less than half a mile away, and Bag­gy Point, Hart­land Point, and Lundy Island beyond. The ten­nis court is next to the Ital­ian Garden. 

To the rear of the house, stone steps lead up to a pri­vate walled gar­den with a large grassed area and orchard. To the east and west of the house are pret­ty woods with gen­tly mean­der­ing paths – great places for chil­dren to explore and play.

Locat­ed in the far south-east cor­ner of the gar­den, you will find Pirate Island, a fun area to explore and play for our young vis­i­tors. For adults, this area is teem­ing with wildlife, offers won­der­ful views and you may even catch sight of our res­i­dent Pick­well hare.

In the far south-west of the gar­den, Lundy Ter­race has spec­tac­u­lar views of the sea and Lundy Island. 

In addi­tion to the ten­nis court there is a games room. Larg­er apart­ments have access to 6 per­son hot tub. A surf and bike store com­plete with beach games, buck­ets and spades, wind­breaks, body boards, wet­suits and more to bor­row and return and a EV Charge point.
