Your Per­fect Seclud­ed Wood­land Retreat in Clyne Val­ley Coun­try Park

Two rus­tic seclud­ed cot­tages in the heart of Clyne Val­ley Coun­try Park, approx­i­mate­ly a 15 min dri­ve (3 miles) from our main Clyne Farm site. The Keeper’s Cot­tage was built in the mid-1800s as the gamekeeper’s cot­tage for the Clyne Estate. Barn Owl Lodge next door was built as an exten­sion to the orig­i­nal Cot­tage. The rur­al set­ting means that there are many local walks and moun­tain bike trails near­by. The loca­tion is also per­fect­ly suit­ed as a base to explore the Gow­er Peninsula.

The Cot­tages:

Both cot­tages sleep 8 guests each, and can inter­con­nect to sleep up to 16. Or they can be booked sep­a­rate­ly. A large grassy gar­den sur­rounds the cot­tages, so there is lots of space for chil­dren and dogs to burn off their ener­gy. The area is fenced but not ful­ly dog-proof. You are enveloped by 700 acres of Coun­try Park so space is not an issue! Both cot­tages have stone BBQs, the per­fect set­ting to rus­tle up an out­door din­ner with a drink or two.

His­to­ry:

The Clyne Estate has a rich his­to­ry and when it was owned by the Vivian fam­i­ly of Cop­per­opo­lis fame many dig­ni­taries were wel­comed to enjoy hunt­ing deer in the woods, often tak­ing tea on the lawn of The Keeper’s Cot­tage. It is said that these dig­ni­taries includ­ed for­mer British Prime Min­is­ters Stan­ley Bald­win & Sir Win­ston Churchill, and also roy­al­ty includ­ing Prince Edward who lat­er became King Edward VII, & his grand­son Prince Edward who lat­er briefly became King Edward VIII.

Both cot­tages are pet & dog friendly.

Activ­i­ties at Clyne Farm Centre: 

There are a num­ber of activ­i­ties avail­able at Clyne Farm for a range of ages and lev­els of fit­ness. Activ­i­ties include: Horse rid­ing, indoor archery, indoor climb­ing, bushcraft & fun prob­lem-solv­ing tasks. Plus Chal­lenge Val­ley The Mud­di­est Assault Course in the World! 

Or you can just enjoy the beau­ti­ful cot­tages and sit back and relax… 

Access:

The Cot­tages are accessed via a pri­vate 0.8 mile long stone track through the woods. There is a 10 mile per hour speed lim­it. We sug­gest you take it slow as it is used by dog walk­ers, horse rid­ers, hik­ers, cyclists etc. The only vehic­u­lar access allowed is for guests stay­ing at the two Wood­land Cottages.
