This superb old house takes groups of 17 – 26 peo­ple (33 max with the Annex) and you can all be seat­ed togeth­er in the grand din­ing room.

This mag­nif­i­cent coun­try house is in a pri­vate rur­al set­ting a few miles from Bath, Bris­tol and Wells. Avail­able at real­is­tic prices for short breaks. Pop­u­lar on week­ends for fam­i­ly gath­er­ings and for upmar­ket hen groups and stag groups. Mid­weeks for cor­po­rate training/​meetings/​bond­ing.

Chel­wood House has 9 com­fort­able ensuite bed­rooms in the main house with the option of a fur­ther 3 bed­rooms in the Annex. There are 24 beds, of which 7 are king sized. With 2 fold­aways the max occu­pan­cy is 33. Groups book self cater­ing, but we sup­ply a use­ful list of con­tacts for cater­ers, enter­tain­ers, activ­i­ties and ideas. Indoors

The ground floor has a won­der­ful large function/​din­ing room with wood­en floor, and with oak tables and chairs to seat 34+. After your meal, clear a few of the tables and enjoy karaōke and danc­ing. There is an adja­cent games room which also has a bar area and drinks-fridge. There is a sep­a­rate snug room, a sit­ting room, and a well-equipped large kitchen.

Out­doors

An acre and a half of gar­dens, much of it walled, is avail­able for all kinds of activ­i­ty and enjoy­ment. Large lev­el lawns, good for sports, inflat­able games etc.

Local Area

The Mendip Hills is an area of out­stand­ing nat­ur­al beau­ty, yet the House is only a short dri­ve from the world her­itage city of Bath. Vis­it the Ched­dar gorge and caves, Wookey Hole, the mag­nif­i­cent Wells cathe­dral, the local stone cir­cle of Stan­ton Drew, the water sports and sail­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties of the Chew val­ley lakes. Group activ­i­ty ideas can be sup­plied on booking.
