Behind Symondsbury Manor’s mellow stone walls and mullioned windows lies a surprising discovery: a fresh, creative interior full of colour and playful charm. The atmosphere of this special place always makes for a great house party.
Up to 22 friends and family can spread across 11 bedrooms, sleeping in plump beds under white linen. Light streams into the huge open-plan living space where everyone can gather comfortably together to eat,drink and generally celebrate.
Throughout the house, there are intresting pictures,books,vintage furniture and hand printed wallpapers at everty turn. Outside, there’s a couple of acres or more of gardens and orchard to explore, with chandeliers in trees and a croquet set to unpack. Beyond the old stone garden walls is the picture perfect thatched village of Symondsbury, with welcoming pub,shop and café.
Travel just a mile and you meet the sea. Along this stretch of the Dorset Jurassic coast, there are spectacular walks along cliff tops and beaches, plus fossil hunting too. A mile in the other direction takes you to bustling Bridport, famed for its street market of antiques, artisanal craft and local produce. The location of this magical house could not be more perfect.

The house has seven double-bedded rooms (two with four posters) and 4 twin-bedded rooms. One of the double-bedded rooms also has two extra beds so can either serve as a further twin-bedded room or as a family room.
There are 9 bathroom facilities, 5 of which are en suite.
The comfortable living room is sixty feet long with a large table at one end that seats twenty four, and a woodburning stove and views over the garden at the other.
Symondsbury is a short drive from historic Lyme Regis, an unspoiled seaside resort and fishing port on the world famous Cobb harbour. Surrounded by beautiful coastlines and countryside, famous for its geology and fossil finds, the area has now been awarded World Heritage Site Status. Bridport, the nearest town, is a mile and a half away. It has large street markets twice a week selling fruit and vegetables, antiques, bric-à-brac and local crafts. Golf, horse-riding, sailing, swinmming and diving facilities are within easy reach. There is a wide choice of restaurants nearby (several run by ‘celebrity chefs’), and good pubs including one in Symondsbury only 100 metres from the Manor.
