Built in 1812 for British Prime Minister Jenkinson, the house has played host to many famous names throughout its history. Lord Wellington was entertained here during the Waterloo campaign and the house has been owned by the Wordsworth family, Lord and Lady Apsley and the Duke of Beaufort. In its more recent incarnation as a 5 star hotel, it has welcomed famous names such as Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Edward Fox, Christopher Reeve and Hugh Grant. The property has also been featured in a number of TV programmes and films.

The house is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, surrounded by lovely walks and countryside. Highgrove, the home of the Prince of Wales and Westonbirt Arboretum are a 10 minute drive and Bath and Bristol are 20 minutes away.
There is a country pub opposite the house which serves food and there are a variety of excellent restaurants nearby.
Local activities include; horse riding and racing at Bath Racecourse, driving experiences at Castle Combe Circuit, clay pigeon shooting, archery, cocktail masterclass, life drawing, on site chef and just about anything else that you might want to include.
