A large property in the mountainous area of Snowdonia
A unique property in 10 acres of grounds in the Ogwen Valley of central Snowdonia
Our large cottage is named Bryn Llys. It is a modern conversion of stone buildings that are over 100 years old and is situated on the outskirts of Bethesda at the foot of the Ogwen Valley in Central Snowdonia. It is ideal for groups of friends or a family reunion. It is within 10 acres of grounds that include formal gardens, a pond, a lake, a woodland walk and a meadow. A 5- inch-gauge ride-on-railway runs for nearly half a mile within the property and is available for rides occasionally.
The property is centrally located for mountaineering, rock-climbing, visits to historical castles and several narrow-gauge railways. It is within a mile of Zip World Velocity. Surf Snowdonia, High Ropes, Bounce Below and several copper and slate mines are also accessible.
There is a double bed and two single beds in each of the family rooms
The dining room has a slate-tiled floor and seats 18 at three tables. A toilet and an utilities room (with a washing machine and ironing board) have level ground floor access from the dining room. The kitchen is accessed by two shallow steps from the dining room. The lounge is on the first floor and is accessed by a staircase from the dining room. It has seating for 15 people. It also contains a colour 36 inch TV, a CD player and a drinks fridge. A games room is also on the first floor and features a full-sized table tennis table. This packs away to allow the room to be used as a small lecture room if so desired. All the bedrooms have en-suite toilets and shower facilities and modern TV sets. Three of the rooms have twin beds and the other two (family rooms) have a double bed on the ground floor and twin beds on a mezzanine floor. All linen is provided.
From an adjacent parking area a gateway accesses a small compound that is private to the property and a short 1:12 ramp that leads to a covered way. The five bedrooms and the dining room open individually from the covered way, with level access. A small fish pond adjacent to the bedrooms is covered with a child-proof net. A bicycle shed and boot-washing facilities are adjacent.
Guests are able to enjoy the delights of this idyllic and tranquil setting and to explore the sporting, historical and geographic features of the area. Mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, cycling, good beaches and water sports are available, as are castles, National Trust Properties, gardens, narrow gauge railways, golf courses.Copper mines and slate mines are open to visitors and Tree-top rope walks and underground exploration are available for the more adventurous. Recent adventurous additions in the area include Europe’s longest Zip Wire (walking distance), High Rropes, Surf Snowdonia, Go Underground and Bounce Below (trampolining in a cavern)
