La Loire a Velo - cycling in the Loire Valley

"La Loire à Vélo" is an innovative new concept in France -a developed, signposted cycling itinerary made up of minor roads and cycling tracks winding around Europe's last untamed river - The Loire.

Near Blois, The Pays des Chateau has developed a network of 11 cycling itineraries. The circuit allows you to discover the Chateaux of Chambord, Cheverny, the little Sologne villages and of course, the vineyards! In total there are 300kms of signposted, safe itineraries including 30km of cycle only tracks, 70km of paths and 200km of minor roads with little traffic.

Part of the "La Loire a Velo" goes through the heart of the Loire Valley, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Historic towns and villages in which the local "tuffeau" stone dominates, chateaux overlooking the river, gardens & vineyards, all these things will delight you. Gulls, sterns, beavers and salmon will accompany you along your way.

All along the route, 12 highly qualified bicycle rental & repair shops are standing by to provide quality bikes and back-up, as well as a warm welcome for all holiday makers on the cycle tour.
