BRITISH SPORTING HEROES EXHIBITION :: 23rd July, 2010
Visitors to Worcestershire this summer can take advantage of this unique exhibition of British Sporting Heroes in the nave of Worcester Cathedral.
Sporting Heroes, in association with Wyvern - the radio station made for Herefordshire and Worcestershire will feature up to 60 sports personalities, male and female, from 100 years ago to the present day within 9 major sports; athletics, cricket, football, golf, motor racing, national hunt racing, rowing, rugby & tennis, citing their personal stories and showing the changes in equipment & design.
A fantastic collection of sporting memorabilia relating to each personality, loaned from 6 national sports museums & 3 private collectors (including racing cars, David Beckhams boots, the replica Ashes & 3 Cheltenham Gold Cups!) will be exhibited alongside graphic displays.
Being held in aid of Worcester Cathedral, the aim is to encourage the community to view the Cathedral as a communal space, drawing in a wider audience and to contribute towards the upkeep of this national treasure.
