The jewel in the crown of Nantes …
After 15 years work, including a 3-year complete shutdown, the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, built in the 13th century on a Gallo-Roman wall, which can still be seen, is opening to the public again. It houses a new history museum: a collection of 800 items can be seen on display in 32 rooms.
The castle, a giant of granite, slate and tufa, home to the kings of France, can also be visited throughout: complete tour of the ramparts with new views over the city, two closed entrances reopened … the whole castle has been restored for the first time in its history!
