In the Chateau we offer B&B in two very well appointed master bedrooms situated on the first floor of the house, each bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower. One of the suites has a private sitting room. The stone built farmhouse and cottage feature traditional Creusois architecture, exposed oak beams, granite fireplaces and a bread oven. They have been sympathetically restored to retain as many of the original features as possible without compromising the comforts of modern living. The farmhouse will accommodate 12 people plus infants and is centrally heated. The large dining room and kitchen are open plan with the kitchen being very well equipped. The main lounge features open oak beams, a large granite fireplace with a wood burning stove and a traditional bread oven. There is a separate TV lounge. The cottage will accommodate 4 people, is packed with character features, and is also fully equipped. For further details and more pictures visit our website www.memanat.com

The local area

The Limousin countryside is renowned for its beautiful wooded hills, lakes and small sleepy villages. Memanat is an ideal location for a stress free holiday and for discovering the many delights of the region. Visit local chateaux and other historical sites or take in the markets at Aubusson, Bourganeuf and Felletin for traditional French fare. Aubusson is a beautiful medieval town, steeped in history and famous for its tapestries and carpets. From the richness of the Middle Ages to the hanging tapestry created for the Olympics in 2000, the wonderful know-how of the Aubusson tapestry weavers has transcended through time since the 6th century. The City of Limoges, the capital of the Limousin, is 1 hour away and famed for its fine china and porcelain. The city boasts a long history from Gallo-Roman times and contains many museums, sites of cultural interest, markets, shops and cafes. Explore the old city, the cathedral, museums, aquarium and botanical gardens, or shop for those special porcelain gifts. Lake Vassiviere is situated just 20 km to the south of Memanat and is one of the largest lakes in France, covering 2,470 acres with 45km of lakeside to explore. Cafes, bars, restaurants and picnic areas line the lakeside. On the vast fresh water lake you can fish, windsurf, water-ski, sail, canoe, or take a boat excursion. There are bathing beaches and paths for rambling, riding or cycling.
