It is a small village close to the Fosse Way Roman road and has the remains of several Roman villas discovered nearby. It is surrounded by lovely countryside with a profusion of historic houses, abbeys and gardens. To the south are the rolling hills of Dorset with the coast half an hour away and to the north the fascinating Somerset levels and moors. It is excellent for walking, cycling, golf and visiting the many cider farms and cider brandy distillery.
